Kushgard Deck and Siding Stains
Kushgard Deckseal
How To Properly Stain Your Deck Using Kushgard Deckseal
Kushgard Siding Stains
Because of the nature of wood, especially on a flat, walking surface, no deck
coating lasts forever. What makes
Kushgard Deckseal
special is the high content
of linseed oil we put into the stain. It penetrates into the wood and protects
it.
Kushgard Deckseal
also contains a mildewcide to inhibit the growth of mildew
and protect your wood from graying, cracking and drying. We also put color into
our deckseal which is an important element that provides a UV barrier.

Before You Stain:
Uncoated New Wood
-If using wolmonized wood, make sure that it has dried out for at least 6 months
-Wash with TSP and water
-Rinse thoroughly
Coated Wood
-Make sure the previous product used can be covered by our deckseal. If not, then
stripping the deck is necessary. We can recommend the proper stripper to use.
Stripping is advisable if the color is splotchy or peeling.
-If stripping is not necessary, wash with TSP and water.
-Rinse thoroughly
-Make sure the deck is dry for 3 days before coating.
-Do not coat too early in the spring or too late in the fall because of the dew
that forms.
-Do not coat too early in the morning or too late at night because of the dew.
Application:
-It is important to keep the product stirred throughout the process. The color
can settle to the bottom and cause the stain to look uneven.
-We advise that our product be rolled or brushed on in order to work the deckseal
into the wood. It can be sprayed on, but it should be rolled afterwards for best results.
-Because of the high amount of linseed oil in the deckseal, do not put the product
on too heavy or where it will puddle.
-Apply only one coat. If two coats are desired, wait at least on week to apply the
second coat.
-Soak rags and roller cover in water after use because, linseed oil soaked rags
can spontaneously combust. Make sure the rags and cover are not exposed to heat
and/or direct sunlight.
Kushgard Linseed Oil Stain
is similar to the deckseal. It contains an even
higher percentage of linseed oil (if applied to a deck, it would take days to
dry). This semi-transparent stain can be used on wood fences, sheds, cedar shakes
or any verical exterior wood surface. The wood must be clean and dry.
For a different look, we also offer
Kushgard Solid Oil Stain.
This product looks similar to paint but does not chip. It soaks into the wood,
protecting it and giving the wood a solid color. This is a good product to use
if your wood is discolored and uneven in appearance or if you want the look of
a painted home or fence without the chipping or peeling.

previously stained wood but not over painted or nonwood surfaces.
